My parents named me after showbiz personalities, but show business, thankfully, is not where my career path is in now. My name is Sharyl Lacea, one of the BL scholars of Cogeo Community, and I am now working in the field of recruitment, one that I have been eyeing since college.

Iris Cristelle Destura...

Hi! I’m Iris Cristelle Destura from Welfareville Compound Mandaluyong  City. I’m already a graduate of BS Psychology Degree and now pursuing a MA Industrial Degree in Industrial Psychology. As of now that I’m already working in an academe as an instructor and  at the same time a Guidance Center staff, God has been very good to me for being so generous in giving wisdom and strength in all that I do.

I praise Him primarily for this chance that after graduation I already had a job to land on. He never failed to surprise me how he continues to move inch by inch, centimetres to centimetres and even closer for me to achieve what I really want to be someday. I remember when I was at the age of six, when my teacher is asking me what I want to be someday, I’m always telling her that I want to be a teacher because I want to teach children and voila! After 14 years, I am already working in an academe as an instructor.

Really God is great as we cannot attain all the things that we have without Him inside the picture.  I praise Him as well for the perseverance He gives me all the time. We are not rich to supply all the needs I have at school but I really thank Him for using BL as a channel of His blessing to His children. I am indeed humbled by how merciful He is to me. I know I don’t deserve all these but still God gives us what we desire for in due time, we will realize His value in all we should do.

I praise Him more for being such a good father to me all the time especially now that I am working as a teacher and disciplining college students in a good way is somehow challenging for me. I learned how God disciplines His children and in the same way, I knew that as an earthly teacher for these students, I should guide them in disciplining themselves in God’s way.

Yes, it is not easy but still as I am still on the process, so they are. And I believe more than any teacher can make an impact to the students, God will still teach them the best life lesson they can learn more than any theories they can hear at school.

What I am now challenged with is my emotions as well as my character. How should I act and how should I handle my emotions especially when situations go wrong? How will I handle students I caught cheating? How will I respond to a student who disrespects me? How will I share God’s goodness? How can I motivate them? How should encouragement be given? How can I be a good testimony? How can they be good testimonies too? How will I live my life? How will these children live their lives in the future? These are just few of the questions I have in mind. And I know later in time, God will direct me to do only what pleases Him more than it pleases people. I thank God for the opportunity that I have been His children through the BL Foundation who first give me the best foundation of faith which is rooted to Christ. I know there’s a long way to go but as we always say, “Yes Lord!” everything will be alright! (0:
